ג'ול קונדה נכנס להיסטוריה של ברצלונה כבלם הצרפתי עם 194 הופעות
ג'ול קונדה secured a place in FC Barcelona’s record books, becoming the French player with the most appearances for the Catalan club after featuring in a 3-0 victory over Getafe in La Liga on Saturday.
The 27-year-old defender reached 194 appearances since joining Barcelona from Sevilla in the summer of 2022, surpassing former France international Eric Abidal, who made 193 appearances between 2007 and 2013.
Koundé marked the milestone in style, scoring Barcelona’s third goal to complete the victory and cap a memorable evening for the French international.
Koundé surpasses Barcelona’s French greats
The new record places Koundé ahead of several French players who have represented Barcelona over the years. Samuel Umtiti recorded 134 appearances, Clément Lenglet made 160, while Ousmane Dembélé featured 185 times before leaving the club.
Abidal had held the record with 193 appearances, but Koundé’s latest outing moved him into first place among French players in Barcelona’s history.
Developed at Bordeaux before establishing himself at Sevilla, Koundé has become a regular presence in Barcelona’s defence. His versatility and ability to contribute in attacking situations have helped him maintain an important role within the squad.
Although his performances at the beginning of the current season had drawn mixed assessments at club and international level, his goal against Getafe provided a timely boost as he celebrated a personal achievement alongside his teammates.
A milestone during Barcelona’s strong league campaign
Barcelona’s victory over Getafe also reinforced the club’s impressive start to the domestic campaign. According to the figures provided, the Catalan side had won all eight of its opening league matches, placing it at the top of the La Liga standings.
For Koundé, the record reflects a period of sustained involvement since his arrival in Spain. His contract runs until 2030, giving him further opportunities to expand his appearance tally and strengthen his place in the club’s history.
The defender is also approaching another significant landmark: 200 appearances for Barcelona. With 194 games already behind him, he needs only six more to reach that figure.
Barcelona’s next scheduled assignment, an away fixture against Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, could provide another opportunity to move closer to the milestone.
An expanding trophy collection
Koundé’s record-breaking appearance comes against the backdrop of considerable team success. During his time at Barcelona, he has been part of squads that won three Spanish league titles, in 2023, 2025 and 2026, as well as the Copa del Rey in 2025.
He has also collected three Spanish Super Cups, in 2023, 2025 and 2026.
These achievements underline the defender’s contribution to a period in which Barcelona has continued to compete for major domestic honours. His latest record adds an individual distinction to that collective success, placing him ahead of every other French footballer to have represented the club in terms of appearances.
At 27, Koundé still has several seasons remaining on his current contract. His next objective is within reach, but the broader significance of his achievement lies in the consistency required to overtake a record previously held by one of Barcelona’s most recognisable French defenders.
