קבוצת נוער מרוקאית ממוחמדיה secured a place among the five highest-ranked teams worldwide in the junior category of Technovation 2026, marking a significant milestone for the country’s young female innovators.

The team, 3andiBlasti Leaders, will represent Morocco at the Technovation World Summit in Bangalore, India, from October 5 to 9, where its members will showcase TouratProtect, a technology-based initiative designed to help safeguard historical and archaeological sites.

TouratProtect seeks to address one of the challenges facing cultural heritage: the impact of environmental conditions on sites of historical and archaeological importance.

The project uses a network of smart sensors to monitor environmental indicators such as air and soil humidity and rainfall. By collecting information on these conditions, the system is designed to help identify circumstances that could potentially threaten the preservation of heritage sites.

The project illustrates how young developers can use digital technologies to respond to issues extending beyond conventional technology applications, connecting innovation with cultural preservation.

The qualification represents a first for Morocco at Technovation at this level. According to Ghirass for Education & STEM, the organization supporting the team, 3andiBlasti Leaders is the first Moroccan team to reach the global top five in the junior division for participants aged between 13 and 15.

The achievement also highlights the growing involvement of Moroccan girls in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, fields in which youth-oriented initiatives are seeking to encourage greater participation.

For the Mohammedia-based team, the international final is the latest stage in a journey that has already taken its members to several global technology and robotics competitions.

The young innovators have been supported by Ghirass for Education & STEM, an organization based in Mohammedia that introduces young people to areas including robotics, artificial intelligence, programming and electronics.

Their previous experience includes participation in international robotics and artificial intelligence competitions in countries such as the United States, the Netherlands, Norway and Türkiye.

That background has provided the team with exposure to international competition and helped prepare its members for the global Technovation stage.

In Morocco, Technovation is supported in partnership with eSTEM Morocco, the program’s official national partner. The organization promotes access to science, technology, engineering and mathematics among girls aged 8 to 18, while encouraging them to consider educational and professional paths in STEM-related fields.

Technovation itself operates across more than 160 countries. Its program challenges young girls to develop technological solutions addressing concrete problems within their communities, while building skills in technology, artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship and leadership.

The Moroccan team’s selection therefore extends beyond a single competition result. It reflects the ability of young participants to combine technical skills with an understanding of local challenges and transform those ideas into technology-driven projects.

For the students themselves, the event offers a platform to test their ideas against a global field while exchanging experiences with peers working on technology-based solutions to real-world problems.

The journey from Mohammedia to Bangalore thus places both innovation and heritage at the center of an achievement that could inspire more Moroccan girls to pursue opportunities in STEM.
